Ε῎ςι δὲ καὶ Συρικταὶ πέραν Ι᾿νδων ἔθνος καὶ τοῦτο, καί εἰσι σιμοὶ τὰς ρῖνας, εἴτε οὕτως ἐκ βρεφῶν ἁπαλῶν εν θαλάςςῃ τῇ τῆς ῥινὸς διαμέιναντες. ἐίτε καὶ τοῦτον τὸν τρόπον τίκτονται. Male vulgo Σκιρῖται. Sed et sequentia quis inteligat? Ridicule verterunt interpretes: Sunt et Sciratae gens ultra Indiam, simi naribus, sive ita nati, sive a teneris assueti in mari degere, et urinande nasum offendere ad saxa.
